The U36 Tess is exactly what most people mean when they look for wedge clogs for women. Hand-brushed Taupe leather forms a closed-toe upper, a slingback strap with an elasticated back holds the heel, and a tall platform wedge lifts the whole sole at once. Because the lift is continuous rather than balanced on a heel, the height is far easier to wear than the number suggests. The wedge is wide at the base and tapers only where it is visible, the insole is cushioned across the full length rather than at the heel alone, and the strap means the toes never have to grip. Height without those three is just a compromise. How tall is the wedge on the Tess?
It is a 3.5 inch platform wedge. Because a wedge lifts the whole sole rather than the heel alone, the angle your foot actually sits at is much gentler than the height implies.
Does the strap make a difference?
A large one. The buckle strap holds the foot on the footbed, so nothing slides forward and the toes never grip. That is the difference between a tall shoe you wear all day and one you take off at lunchtime.
How does the U36 differ from the U39 Tess?
They share the shape, the strap and the height. The U36 is hand-brushed leather with a firmer, more polished surface; the U39 is the same clog in soft suede for a warmer texture.
